WFE Spectacular Speculations: “I’m on a train”

As Water for Elephants post-production chugs along we promise to keep you updated and entertained. Here’s another installment of ‘Spectacular Speculations’ where we match up a set photo (or two…or three. What? I love climbing Robowski!) with a passage from the novel.

The following quote is taken from Water for Elephants, Chapter Four. Copyright (c) 2006 by Sara Gruen. All rights reserved.

“”How the hell did you do that? What did you grab?”
“There’s a ladder. Just around the other side. Lean forward and reach for it. You’ll find it.”
“What if I don’t?”
“Then I guess we’ll take our leave, won’t we?”
I advance gingerly to the edge. I can see just the edge of the thin iron ladder. I train my eyes on it and wipe my hands on my thighs. Then I tip forward.
My right hand meets ladder. I grasp wildly with my left until I ensnare the other side. I jam my feet in the rungs and cling tightly, trying to catch my breath.”

Don’t forget to pick up a copy of Water for Elephants and Sara Gruen’s latest Ape House! And check out our Book Tour schedule and see if Sara is coming to a bookstore near you. :)

Psst. If you want to save the picture, click on it first to make it bigger. ;)

Just picked up Ape House from the local library. I’ve had it on reserve, they had it on order. I’m the first to check it out. Can’t wait to dive in. Read a couple of pages during the last of my lunch break.
