Interview: Sara Gruen thinks Robert Pattinson is “going to shine” as Jacob Jankowski

Sara Gruen was interviewed for The Dallas Morning News and discussed her new novel, Ape House, and her thoughts on Robert Pattinson playing Jacob Jankowski. Here’s an excerpt.

What do you think of the casting for the movie of Water for Elephants? I think Robert Pattinson is really going to shine in that role. He’s so dedicated. This was a rough-and-tumble shoot, and when I was there on the set, he’d be lying in the dirt for 18 straight takes in a row, and he would nail every single one. He’s a nice guy, and he reads. He always has a book in his hand. My family got cameos. I’m in a scene where Rosie [the elephant] is raiding a produce stand.

You can read the rest of the interview HERE. Sara talks about making friends with the bonobos that inspired Ape House and how Water for Elephants “nearly didn’t get published”! Have you read Sara’s novels?? Which is your favourite? :)

I think I would like to be friends with Sara Gruen. We seem to have much in common. I have to say that her encounter with the Bonobos is something I would dream about. How lucky she is to have had that experience. She has a fascinating vision for her books. I would like to know what the book was that she began before she wrote Ape House and is she going to pick it up again?
Loved both of her books, can’t say which one I like more.

So glad you are continuing with your blog. It seems that the other WFE blogs have run out of steam. Keep up the good work. I check on it every other day.

I had the opportunity to meet Sara last week at a book signing in Winnetka, IL. for her new book, APE HOUSE.

    Keep up the good work.
