Vanity Fair’s recent Hollywood Issue named the top 40 earners in 2010. It’s no surprise that Rob and Reese are on the list! Can’t lie though…many fans were surprised at the figures Rob and Reese pulled for Water For Elephants. Talk about us living in a bubble…

ESTIMATED 2010 EARNINGS: $27.5 MILLION (2009 rank: 35)
$12.5 million: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1 (fee for co-starring)
$12.5 million: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 2 (fee for co-starring)
$1.5 million: Water for Elephants (fee for starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in upcoming literary adaptation)
$1 million: Fee for starring in upcoming costume drama Bel Ami; older film revenue, mostly from Twilight franchise

So there we have it. It seems low. Especially when Rob pulled $1 million for a movie in theatrical release limbo and no big studio attached. I won’t get too unrealistic with Rob’s figures since he still needs to be “tested” in the eyes of many but Reese? That’s more bizarre. Especially when compared to the earnings for the other film listed for her. I like what RobPattzNews said the other day about peanuts. Rob and Reese run off to the circus and work for peanuts! Francis Lawrence likes peanuts…I bet that’s how they paid him too!

Ok ok…I’m no Hollywood insider. What do I know. But the figures get stranger when you look at the whole list. I could get really insulting about what some people made for films that are….meh. Or what some people will make for films that seem…*crickets*. But I’ll let you browse that list yourself and decide: who’s getting paid too much and who’s not getting paid enough?

    Seriously, I thought the disparity between their peanuts on this would have been greater. It’s cool that Reese wanted the role for the role itself, not just a paycheck. She could make Legally Blonde 3: Elle Sues Polyester for a gazillion dollars but signed on to Water for Elephants. And she’s perfect! *jumpy claps*

    I think in some cases actors get paid a portion of the total gross take when a film is released. This is especially the case in bigger films. I’d be willing to be bet that both Rob and Reese will be getting much more after WFE comes out….

    This was interesting … thanks Tink! I checked out the list … I was surprised at how much some of my favorite actors and directors made. I think that Reese is worth a lot more than $2 M too. <3

    Most actors will accept less money for a quality role. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rob and Reese will get a good percentage of the film’s profits.

    Personally, all I want for Rob is that he be accepted as the great actor that he is and once that happens, and it will happen, the big bucks will come rolling in. Thanks for the info.

      i agree with you, i also think both of them will get profits in the movie, i am so happy for Rob, remember me did not get the recognition it deserved so I”m betting on Rob, he will do great.

    The movie lost money. Fox needed to make 110 million domestically and it only made 56 million. Computing how much you need to make overseas is so complicated suffice to say WFE has only made 4 million profit overseas. So it’s good to know that Fox knew that Robert and Reese were not going to pull the money in. I wonder how much the elephant made?

      If I looked at the figures on IMDB correctly, $56 million was the gross for one particular week.
