ROUNDUP: Water for Elephants explodes while the kinkers are out playing

As some of you might know, all the kinkers are in New York for the premiere but the press doesn’t stop just because we’re “kinkers in the city”. Here’s a collection of some recent excerpts from the last couple of days:

Robert Pattinson talked to Chicago Sun Times about his love scenes with Reese Witherspoon:

“Listen, I had a cold and kept apologizing to Reese, who has since revealed to the press that I had the worst sinus infection when I was kissing her. She has said, ‘He was just sniffing all the way through.’ I guess that was her response to, ‘Reese, you’re the envy of so many girls.’”

“I shouldn’t have made my nose run,” he laments. “I was so embarrassed.”

He was thrilled to join up with a movie that thrust him into circus life.

“It’s such a delicious, dirty world,” Pattinson says. “I absolutely loved it. You’re allowed to relax, breathe and sweat in this world. There was something very real about it and it was quite a freeing experience.”

It turns out that he’s actually an animal person. And the feeling was mutual. Another female fawned in his presence — and she might just be his biggest fan.

She is Tai, his elephant co-star, and quite famous in her own right.

“She is such a phenomenal creature,” he says. “Hanging out with elephants is such a life-changing experience. I love that my job as an actor allows me to spend three months with elephants.”

Pattinson was told to watch it when it came to his famous kisser.

“The main rule was to watch out for the horses,” he says. “They will kick you. I was told that the zebras would kick me even harder. The easiest animals were the lions and tigers and elephants. They’re so sweet and so confident. They don’t really get troubled or nervous.”

Robert Pattinson had lovely things to say about his co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz in Tu Magazine (Italy):

This time, in love scenes, you didn’t feel paralyzed, did you?
Reese succeded to make feel me completely at ease. In the real life she is exactly how she seems on screen: very very sweet, friendly, with a positive aura

And Christoph Waltz as the villain?
Words are not enough for him. This movie is going to be appreciated by my mother, not only because it’s a romantic one, but because she will feel proud of me too: I work with two Oscar winners (Reese Witherspoon won for Walk the Line in 2006, Chisthoph Waltz in 2010 with Inglorious Basterds). On the set sometimes I repeated to myself the title of a book by one of my favorites writers , Bruce Chatwin ”What Am I Doing Here”

Is Robert Pattinson really that pretty in real life?
He’s not too bad, I know you’re disappointed but it’s the truth. He’s smart, low profile and ultimately shy. He’s really funny too, we couldn’t stop laughing throught the whole shooting.

His hair is really short in this movie!
I know! All the Twilight fans are furious. What he’s living right now, I’ve never seen that before in my life, and it happens wherever he goes. It’s not just girls, either. I’ve seen 40 years old women screaming his name at the other end of the set, pressed against security fences.

Jacqueline West, costume designer for WFE, shared with MTV that she thinks Robert Pattinson could be the next Brad Pitt:

“He’s kind of perfect,” she said. “He’s easy, like Brad in that way. You can’t put anything on them that they don’t look good in.” Ahh the advantages of being ridiculously good looking.

That’s not where the similarities end though. Jacqueline added that the two guys have a lot more in common than their looks.

“Both of them are so nice to work with. They’re both really lovely people and nice to everyone, respectful of everyone’s work and collaborative and genuine,” she said (as if we needed more reasons to love them). “There’s something very down to earth about both of them. Brad, because he’s from the Midwest, I think, and Rob, because he came from theater.”

Jacqueline, who has met both Brad and Rob’s families (seriously, how can we get that job?), said that their upbringing is definitely to credit for their all-around awesomeness.

“I met both their families and they’re both lovely and well brought up,” she said.

And there’s more. Jacqueline also noticed a common thread in the way both actors work.

“They’re similar in the way they approach characters and a part and how they’re so respectful about their craft.”

The compliments for Robert just are so heart warming and consistent from so many different people, co-stars, artists, cast, fans, press, family, friends, directors, producers…. the list goes on.

Thanks Tink ,for all the ongoing current updates , you are pretty amazing too.

  2. Sjanie says:

In South Africa WFE started showing today (15 April) and I went to see it tonight – all alone, hubby and kids in bed, came home after midnight. And it was great!! Robert Pattinson played the role perfectly: For the first part of the film he’s awkward, shy, blushing, smiling – and then after the love scene (somewhat different than in the book) he is strong and assertive. Rosie is amazing and Christoph W is brilliant!

  3. ransomfan says:

Thank you Sjanie, you are the first person that I have heard of so far that has actually seen ‘Water For Elephants’. I myself am going to see it this Friday afternoon, (that’s in just five more days), at the first matinee showing! I am so excited, I just can’t hardly wait… My husband is taking off the afternoon just to go and see it with me, I really wish we could get midnight tickets for the night before but at least I get to go on the day it opens here in Iowa USA. Looking so forward to seeing Christoph play the bad guy again, he’s great! And I can’t wait to see the love scene with Rob and Reese, it’s going to be a fun day for me.
